Dyson Serial Number Check: Where to Find It and What It Proves

No. No Dyson website we read offers an authenticity lookup, so be wary of sites that claim to verify Dyson serials. Signal News, a Chinese news site, reported on 30 Mar 2026 that Dyson China's customer service said Dyson offers no authenticity identification service. Customer service also said, according to the report, that a serial number alone cannot fully confirm that a product is genuine, and that the purchase channel must be weighed too.

Dyson's own warnings show why a serial proves little. It says counterfeits include copies of its serial number stickers. In its news release of 11 Mar 2026, it said fakes look nearly the same as genuine machines, including their "official-looking serial numbers". Its Philippines page lists, among the tactics of counterfeit dealers, claiming a product is genuine because it can be registered on Dyson's website.

What the serial is for: registration, support and warranty. Dyson UK says support is faster if you have found it.

Dyson's serial help pages for the UK, the Philippines and Singapore give these places. The numbers match the diagram.

1. Supersonic and Airwrap: on the label attached to the power cord, near the plug.

2. The box: Dyson says the serial is also printed on the machine's box.

3 and 4. Airstrait: Dyson's pages differ. The Philippines and Singapore pages say to turn the e-box over and look on its back. The UK page says the power cord near the plug. All three list the e-box or the cable among the places for straighteners, so check both.

5. Corrale: turn it over. The serial is on the back of the main body.

Dyson's UK and Philippines pages give the places in the table. They depend on the type of machine. On cordless vacuums, the spot also depends on the model, so check each place listed.

Dyson Australia's older support page says the serial is on a sticker on the machine, and on fans on the rating plate on the base. That page covers only upright, cylinder and handheld vacuums, and fans, so it may be dated. The photo below shows the kind of sticker it describes, on an older model.

Dyson's US registration form and its Singapore registration page each give an example serial. Both have 13 letters and numbers in three blocks joined by hyphens: 3 characters, a 2-letter code, then 8 characters. Dyson does not explain what the blocks mean.

In each example, the middle code looks like a market code: UK, SG, and AU on Dyson Australia's older page, which shows XXX-AU-XXXXXX for fans. Dyson's US form itself uses a UK example. Dyson has not published this as a rule, so treat it as an observation. The older Australian example is also shorter.

A correct-looking format proves nothing. OPSS, the UK product safety regulator, recorded counterfeits with serials in the same pattern: R5K-UK-RHJ0846K on a counterfeit Supersonic in report 2511-0314, and P3D-UK-PGJ5952A and P3D-UK-PGJ6594A on a counterfeit dryer labelled HD08 in report 2410-0131. Both reports were published on 23 Dec 2025. A serial that matches one of these does not prove a fake on its own, because Dyson says fakes copy its serial stickers. Ask Dyson Customer Care.

You can register a serial, or quote it to Dyson support. Neither is an authenticity test. The routes below come from Dyson's own pages, read on the dates in the sources, so check the live page before you call.

A lookup can end three ways. None of them proves that a machine is genuine. The table at the end of this section sums them up.

Accepted or registered: this proves nothing about authenticity. According to Insight, a South Korean news site, in a report of 12 Jan 2023, Dyson Korea said fake dryers that an influencer sold as parallel imports also used copied registration numbers. Police were investigating the seller, who was suspected of claiming the dryers could be verified on Dyson's UK website. Signal News reports that Dyson China's customer service said a product that registers is not genuine for that reason alone. Check the item itself with our real vs fake guide.

Not found or not recognized: a warning sign, not a verdict. Shanghai Jinshan police noticed roughly made dryers whose serial numbers could not be found on Dyson's official website, and the brand owner then found the whole batch counterfeit, Beijing News reported on 30 Jan 2026. But typing errors happen, and the country selector matters. Re-enter the serial, compare the box and cord labels, then contact Dyson Customer Care with your proof of purchase. Do not call a machine fake on this alone.

Missing or unreadable label: Dyson puts the Supersonic and Airwrap serial on the cord label, so ask the seller why it is missing or cannot be read. Ask for the box serial and the proof of purchase, and photograph the cord near the plug.

Not in the US. Dyson US's older warranty page said that not registering will not reduce your warranty rights, and told owners to keep proof of purchase. The current Limited Warranty, last updated on 16 Dec 2025, says that without proof of purchase or delivery, the warranty starts 90 days after the date of manufacture in Dyson's records. This suggests Dyson holds a manufacture date for each unit, but the page describes no public lookup.

In mainland China, registering does not guarantee free warranty. Dyson China's registration page, read on 2 Nov 2026, lists a free 2-year or 5-year warranty as a benefit of registering, with a footnote that the warranty card decides the period. Its after-sales policy of October 2026 limits free warranty to products sold through Dyson's direct and authorized channels. Red Star News reported in early April 2026 that the Shanghai Huangpu market regulator had told Dyson China to make the free-warranty-for-registration wording on its site consistent with its after-sales policy, and that the site's footer wording had changed by 1 April.

Do not rely on registration either way. Keep photos of the cord label, the box label and the listing, and ask the seller for proof of purchase. If you bought recently, use the seller's or the marketplace's returns and buyer protection, and check the time limit.

Contact Dyson Customer Care with the serial and the proof of purchase. Dyson says it does not service counterfeit machines, and what it does with a suspected fake depends on the market, as our Dyson authentication hub explains.
