Direct answer

No Dyson site we read offers a check that proves a machine is genuine, and Signal News reports that Dyson China's customer service said Dyson offers no such service. Dyson says fakes are "very difficult to spot" and copy serial stickers and warranty cards. So check where it was bought, then the warning label, the plug, the serial label and the finish. How to approach Dyson authentication

Know the exact model

The serial sits in different places. Dyson puts it on the cord label near the plug on the Supersonic and Airwrap, on the back of the main body on the Corrale, and on the e-box or the cable on the Airstrait. Dyson says the Supersonic Travel is 25% lighter than the full-size Supersonic, so compare only the same model.

Check the finish and the plug

Dyson lists misapplied logos, uneven joins, scratches and uneven edges as signs of a fake. In the UK, reports published by the product safety regulator OPSS in December 2025 found counterfeit dryers with plugs or fuses that failed the British Standards BS 1363 and BS 1362.

Read the labels, but do not trust the serial alone

The same OPSS reports show a misspelled safety warning on counterfeit dryers. A serial label proves little, because Dyson says fakes copy serial stickers.

Photograph the details

For a review, photograph the whole item, the label on the cord near the plug, the plug, any printed text, every attachment, the box and the paperwork.

What to review on Dyson items

Can Dyson tell you if your Dyson is real?

Not through a public check. No Dyson site we read offers an authenticity lookup. Dyson Japan says it cannot judge for customers, before they buy, whether a site, a product or a seller is genuine or authorized. Signal News, a Chinese news site, reported on 30 Mar 2026 that Dyson China's customer service said Dyson offers no authenticity identification service.

Dyson does look at machines sent to it for service. What it does when it finds a counterfeit depends on the market, as the table further down shows.

Registration does not prove anything either. Dyson's Philippines page lists, among the tactics of counterfeit dealers, claiming a product is genuine because it can be registered on Dyson's website. In March 2026, Dyson said fakes look nearly the same as genuine machines, down to serial numbers that look official.

If you contact Dyson, have the details ready. In the US, Dyson's Limited Warranty, last updated on 16 Dec 2025, asks you to call the Dyson Helpline, 1-866-693-9766, with the model name or number, the serial number, and the date and place of purchase or delivery. Check the live page before you call. Dyson Japan asks for the serial number, which it calls 製造番号. Our Dyson serial number guide shows where the serial is on each model and what a lookup result means.

Which Dyson products are faked?

Most records below concern hair dryers. Others cover the Airwrap, straighteners, vacuum cleaners and accessories. They show which cases were found, not how common each fake is. No source we read ranks products by how often they are faked.

The largest case in the table is reported by Dyson itself. Dyson says the fakes seized in January 2026 were bound for markets worldwide, including Germany, the wider EU, the UK, the USA and the Gulf states, and that officials also found more than a quarter of a million pieces of fake Dyson packaging. These are Dyson's own figures.

Is my Dyson vacuum fake? Batteries, chargers and compatible parts

We found no verified visual signs that are specific to fake Dyson vacuums. Dyson's general signs apply: poor finish, poor packaging, typos, and a strong chemical smell when first unpacked and used. Our serial number guide shows where the serial is on each vacuum.

A compatible part is not a counterfeit. It is sold under another name, or no name, to fit a Dyson. It can still be unsafe. The UK Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) published report 2407-0169 on 27 Nov 2024, risk level High, about an unbranded charger sold on eBay for the Dyson V6 and the DC58 to DC62 and DC72 vacuums. OPSS found faults inside it, including signs of electrical arcing in the transformer. Its live pin was too wide and short, and the neutral pin sat so close to the edge that live parts could be touched while plugging in or unplugging. OPSS told owners to stop using it.

In the US, FOX 5 New York reported on 8 Jan 2024 that the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warned people to stop using ZAUTNKN replacement battery packs for the Dyson V6, sold on Amazon. They were not made or authorized by Dyson, did not comply with the UL 1642 standard, and were linked to three fires and one report of smoke inhalation. In the UK, Lincolnshire Trading Standards said in December 2020 that a counterfeit replacement battery for a Dyson vacuum caused a house fire in Lincoln that year.

Parts also affect the warranty. Dyson's UK guarantee excludes damage caused by parts and accessories that are not genuine Dyson components. In the US, Dyson says third-party parts do not void the warranty, but damage they cause is not covered.

Where you buy can matter as much as the part. In the US, mainland China, the Philippines and Indonesia, Dyson's terms tie the warranty to Dyson or an authorized channel. Our guide to authorized Dyson sellers has the channel rules by country.

  • In December 2020, Lincolnshire Trading Standards advised buying from genuine retailers, checking the brand's website for authorized sellers, checking that the seller has a registered UK address, checking new items for damage or loose wires, and keeping proof of purchase.

What to do if Dyson says your machine is counterfeit, or you think it is

Dyson says it will not service a counterfeit, because it is not made by Dyson or with genuine Dyson parts, and every Dyson page we read says it will not refund one. What else it does depends on the market. In the US and Japan, Dyson points owners to the seller or the card company for their money.

If you bought it from Dyson or from a seller on Dyson's authorized list, ask Dyson to confirm its finding in writing. Its US terms say it may give a letter, and Dyson Japan gives a document on request. Give that, with your proof of purchase, to the seller and ask for a response. An independent photo review can give a second opinion on the outside of the item, but it cannot see inside, where some faults are found.

First, keep the evidence: the listing, your messages, the payment record and photos of the item. Use the seller's or the marketplace's return route and buyer protection, and check the time limit. Do not sell or pass the item on. If it sparks, smokes, overheats or the plug is loose, stop using it, and unplug it only if you can do so safely.

  • The US letter, and keeping or destroying the machine, are at Dyson's discretion. Apart from Japan's document on request, we found no such terms for other markets.

Where can I get my Dyson authenticated?

We found no public Dyson authenticity check. Vereev, an independent service, gives an opinion from photos. You photograph the item in the Vereev app with a guided photo checklist. If you already have an account and tokens, you can also order on the website at www.vereev-ai.com/authenticate.

Search for Dyson in the app. If your version of the app does not list it yet, type the brand name, Dyson, and continue. Requests use tokens, and the app shows the cost before you confirm.

AI assists and human experts decide. A reviewer may ask for more photos. The result is Authentic, Replica, or a statement that the photos cannot settle it, and in that last case the tokens are refunded. Authentic and replica results get a digital E-Result with a certificate and a QR link that anyone can check at www.vereev-ai.com/verify.

A photo review gives an opinion on the outside, the labels and the parts shown. It cannot test electrical safety, internal wiring, heat cut-off, airflow or battery health. The fault in the counterfeit Airwrap of OPSS report 2112-0563 was in its internal wiring, where no photo can see. If you have any safety doubt, stop using the item and contact Dyson or an authorized service center.

Vereev is independent. It is not Dyson, and it does not issue Dyson certificates.

For a Dyson hair tool, take the photos below. Our electronics photo guide, in the list of guides on this page, shows a sample of each angle.

  • The whole tool, from every side.
  • The label on the cord near the plug, sharp enough to read.
  • The plug and its pins.
  • Any printed warning or rating text.
  • Joins, seams and buttons, close up.
  • Every attachment, and the case if you have one.
  • The box on all sides, and any paperwork.

Model-specific checks

Most-searched Dyson models

Compare each piece with references for the same version, size, and period. These are the details a reviewer photographs and compares first.

Airwrap

Dyson puts the serial on the label attached to the power cord, near the plug. OPSS report 2112-0563 covers a counterfeit Airwrap sold with accessories and a carry case, whose fault was inside, in the wiring. Dyson also sells refurbished units: its US Outlet listed a refurbished Airwrap i.d. in October 2026.

Check and photograph

  • The label on the cord near the plug
  • Every attachment and the case
  • Joins, edges and logos, close up

Supersonic, Supersonic Nural and Supersonic Travel

Most of the documented cases on this page concern dryers. On the Supersonic, the serial is on the cord label near the plug. Dyson says the Travel is 25% lighter than the full-size Supersonic, and Dyson Australia says it adapts to voltages from 100 to 240V.

Check and photograph

  • Printed warning and rating text
  • The plug and its pins
  • The label on the cord near the plug

Airstrait

Dyson's own pages differ on where the serial is. The Philippines and Singapore pages say the back of the e-box, and the UK page says the cord near the plug, so check both. A Dyson staff answer from 2024 says the Airstrait is built for the voltage of the country of purchase.

Check and photograph

  • The back of the e-box
  • The cable near the plug
  • The plug type for your country

Corrale

Turn it over: Dyson puts the serial on the back of the main body. A Dyson staff answer from 2024 named the Corrale as the only Dyson hair tool rated for universal voltage at that date.

Check and photograph

  • The back of the main body
  • The plates and their edges
  • The box and the paperwork

V-series and Gen5 vacuums

The serial may be behind the clear bin, on the battery pack at the base of the handle, or inside the handle once a click-in battery is removed. On the Gen5detect and Gen5outsize, it is in the settings menu on the LCD screen. Dyson says vacuum cleaners were among the fakes seized in January 2026.

Check and photograph

  • Behind the clear bin
  • The battery and the handle
  • The charger and its plug

Batteries, chargers and accessories

Dyson says 30,000 fake accessories were seized in January 2026. Compatible chargers and batteries sold under other names have drawn safety warnings from OPSS in the UK in November 2024 and, as FOX 5 New York reported in January 2024, from the CPSC in the US.

Warning signs

When Dyson items need a closer look

Each sign is a reason to ask more questions or get an item-level review. None is a verdict on its own.

  • Misspelled warning or rating text. OPSS reports from December 2025 show a misspelled safety warning on counterfeit dryers, and Which? found water spelled with a double r on the casing of a fake Supersonic in 2025.
  • In the UK, a plug or fuse that does not meet BS 1363 or BS 1362, as OPSS found on counterfeit dryers in December 2025.
  • Misapplied logos, uneven joins, scratches or uneven edges, which Dyson lists as signs of a counterfeit.
  • Poor-quality packaging, or typos on the box or the documents, which Dyson also lists.
  • A strong or unusual chemical smell when the item is first unpacked and used. Dyson added this sign in March 2026. It is weak on its own.
  • A listing that shows only official Dyson images and no photos of the actual item, a tactic Dyson describes.
  • A seller who stresses that the item is original, authentic or genuine, can be registered, or has Dyson warranty. Dyson says such promises do not guarantee authenticity.
  • A deal moved to private messages, unofficial links or unusual payment methods, which Dyson's March 2026 release warns about.

Common questions

Dyson authentication FAQ

Can Dyson tell me if my Dyson is real?

Not through a public check. No Dyson site we read offers an authenticity lookup, and Signal News reports that Dyson China's customer service said Dyson offers no authenticity identification service. Dyson does look at machines sent for service, and it will not service a counterfeit.

Which Dyson products are faked?

Records from regulators, police and Dyson cover hair dryers, the Airwrap, straighteners, vacuum cleaners and accessories. Dyson says its January 2026 action in Guangdong seized more than 22,000 finished fakes, including Supersonic dryers, Airwrap stylers and vacuum cleaners, plus 30,000 fake accessories.

Will Dyson repair or refund a fake Dyson?

No. Dyson says it does not service counterfeit machines and cannot refund them. Its dyson.com and Philippines pages say it may help buyers of counterfeits get their money back in some circumstances, so treat that as possible, not promised.

Can Dyson give me a letter saying my machine is counterfeit?

In the US, Dyson's Limited Warranty says that if it finds a machine is not genuine, it may keep or destroy it and give you a letter confirming it is counterfeit, at its discretion. Dyson Japan says customer relations can provide a document proving a product is counterfeit, on request. We found no such terms for other markets.

Are third-party replacement batteries and chargers for Dyson vacuums safe?

Not always. In November 2024, OPSS in the UK reported an unbranded charger for Dyson vacuums whose plug could let a user touch live parts, and in January 2024 FOX 5 New York reported a CPSC warning against ZAUTNKN replacement batteries for the Dyson V6, linked to three fires. In December 2020, Lincolnshire Trading Standards advised buying from genuine retailers and keeping proof of purchase.

Can a photo review tell if my Dyson is safe to use?

No. Photos show the outside, the labels and the parts shown. They cannot show internal wiring, heat cut-off, airflow or battery health. If a Dyson sparks, smokes, overheats or has a loose plug, stop using it and contact Dyson or an authorized service center.

Where can I get my Dyson authenticated?

We found no public authenticity check from Dyson, but Vereev, an independent service, reviews photos. Open the Vereev app and search for Dyson, or type the name, Dyson, if your version of the app does not list it yet, then follow the guided photo checklist. The app shows the cost before you confirm, human experts decide with AI assistance, and the tokens are refunded if the photos cannot settle it.

Is a Vereev result a Dyson certificate?

No. Vereev is independent and does not issue Dyson certificates. Authentic and replica results get a Vereev E-Result with a certificate and a QR link that anyone can check at www.vereev-ai.com/verify.
